Description
Welcome to the First People of Trinidad and Tobago Experience, a journey that takes you to the island’s indigenous roots.
Our first stop is Cleaver Woods, a serene forest reserve that is home to a vast array of flora and fauna. Your guide will lead you through the winding trails, sharing stories of the forest’s first inhabitants and their traditional ways of life. Keep your eyes peeled for exotic birds and other wildlife that call the forest home.
Next, we’ll visit the Santa Rosa RC Church, the second-oldest church in Trinidad. Built in the 1700s, the church holds deep historical and cultural significance for the local First People community. Your guide will explain the church’s unique blend of Amerindian and Catholic influences, and you’ll have the opportunity to take in the beautiful architecture and artwork.
Our next stop is the village dedicated to the First People, where you’ll get to meet members of the Santa Rosa First People’s Community. They will share with you their rich culture, traditions, and way of life as they deliver a special presentation on their history. You’ll gain a unique insight into the challenges facing indigenous communities today, and the important role they play in promoting peace and understanding across cultures.
Join us for the First People Experience and discover the fascinating history, culture, and traditions of Trinidad’s first dwellers. It’s a journey you won’t soon forget, and an important reminder of the need for cultural understanding and respect in our world today.
